Vitor Belfort is one of the most dangerous strikers in mixed martial arts and is still hoping to get another title shot.

In the sport of mixed martial arts, not many fighters have had the reputation of being as dangerous of a fighter as Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort. He got that nickname in the early part of his career in the Ultimate Fighting Championship when he was beating guys like Tank Abbott and Wanderlei Silva and now at the tail end of his career, he is still regarded as one of the most dangerous fighters in the sport. What have been some of his biggest wins and worst defeats inside the Octagon?

Notable Wins

  • UFC 12: vs. Tank Abbott

In just his third career fight, Belfort defeated Abbott to win the UFC 12 heavyweight tournament. The win came via first round TKO, as did his first fight that night against Scott Ferrozzo.

  • UFC 46: vs. Randy Couture

In this fight, Belfort became a world champion for the first time in his career. Much like he had done with several other opponents by this time, Belfort rushed the champion and future Hall of Famer and got the first round TKO win, albeit because of a cut. It was a fight that Belfort needed to win and he did so.

  • UFC on FX: vs. Michael Bisping

With the entire world watching on FX, Belfort picked up the spectacular second round TKO win against Bisping. Coming into this fight, all the talk was about Bisping getting a crack at the middleweight title with a win, but Belfort had other plans and used a head kick to knock out the Brit.

Notable Losses

  • UFC 49: vs. Randy Couture

After Couture was defeated because of a cut, he got a rematch against Belfort for the UFC light heavyweight title and he got his revenge and got his title back with a TKO win. The loss was the first of three straight for Belfort, with Tito Ortiz and Alistair Overeem both getting the “W” against him.
