Dominick Cruz is the UFC Bantamweight Champion.

In the bantamweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, only one man has ever been able to call himself the champion. While Renan Barao is currently the interim UFC bantamweight champion, Dominick “The Dominator” Cruz is the man wearing the official strap. When healthy, Cruz is one of the best fighters in the sport.

What are some of the best wins of his career and who is the only fighter to ever beat him?

Lone Loss

During their time in World Extreme Cagefighting, Cruz and Urijah Faber were two of the most popular competitors in the promotion. When they fought at WEC 26, it was for Faber’s WEC featherweight title. In the only loss in the career of Cruz, Faber got the Guillotine Choke win in the first round of their fight. It was the beginning of what has turned out to be a solid feud between these two competitors.

Biggest Wins

Since dropping that fight to Faber, Cruz has bounced back in a big way. He has several wins against some of the best fighters in the lighter weight classes.

  • WEC 47: vs. Brian Bowles for WEC Bantamweight Championship

After beating Joseph Benavidez, Cruz got the title shot at the man who knocked off longtime champion, Miguel Angel Torres. At the end of the second, Cruz got the TKO victory after the doctor stopped the fight due to a broken hand.

  • UFC 132: vs. Urijah Faber for UFC Bantamweight Championship

At this state in the career of Faber, he had dropped down to featherweight after Jose Also moved to the top of that division. This was also the first time the UFC bantamweight title was defended in the Octagon and it was a fight that saw Cruz walk away the victor after 25 tough minutes with the California Kid.
