junior-dos-santosThe former UFC heavyweight champion, Junior dos Santos, is one of the most popular heavyweights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He began his UFC career with nine consecutive victories including a short reign as the champion. He is a powerful striker that has gone head to head with some of the most talented fighters in the division and has come out on top most of the time. What are his greatest wins and what is his worst fight?

Notable Wins

  • UFC on Fox: vs. Cain Velasquez for UFC Heavyweight Championship

After beating Shane Carwin to earn his title shot, dos Santos and Velasquez were the first two fighters to compete live on Fox. The fight lasted just 64 seconds before dos Santos walked away from the event as the world champion.

  • UFC 117: vs. Roy Nelson

In what was a fun fight to watch, these two men went at each other for 15 minutes. Dos Santos hit Nelson with everything he had, but he couldn’t knock out Big Country. Dos Santos earned the unanimous decision to win his sixth straight fight in the UFC.

  • UFC 160: vs. Mark Hunt

In an effort to get back into the win column and get into the title hunt, dos Santos and Hunt competed in the Fight of the Night. Dos Santos picked up the impressive victory with a KO after a spinning heel kick and punches.

Notable Loss

  • UFC 155: vs. Cain Velasquez for UFC Heavyweight Championship

In what was just his second title defense of the heavyweight title, he was set to face the man he beat for the title more than a year earlier. Velasquez was more prepared for dos Santos in this fight and controlled the champion for 25 minutes. It was the most lopsided loss in the career of dos Santos and the only time in his UFC career that he didn’t look like the best fighter in the division.
