Thirty Five year old Brazilian fighter Fabricio Werdum is one of the most experienced and talented fighters in the UFC heavyweight division. - Vs. Fedor Emelianenko
In the history of mixed martial arts, the name Fedor has reigned supreme as one of the best fighters of all time. While the last few fights of his career haven’t helped his legacy, when he fought Werdum, he was still one of the best fighters in the world. Just 69 seconds into their fight, Werdum caught Fedor with a Triangle Armbar to get the win and the Submission of the Year.
- UFC 143: vs. Roy Nelson
In the first fight of his second UFC tenure, Werdum took on Nelson. These tough fighters never stopped moving and went toe to toe for 15 minutes. Their performance earned them the Fight of the Night honors and Werdum the unanimous decision win.
- UFC 90: vs. Junior dos Santos
In the final fight of his first UFC tenure, Werdum took on the upstart dos Santos. It was the first fight in the UFC career of dos Santos and a fight that many people expected Werdum to win. Instead, dos Santos got the first round KO win just 81 seconds into the fight. The win propelled dos Santos up the rankings and dropped Werdum from the UFC.

In the quarterfinals of the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix, Werdum took on Overeem. This fight went 15 minutes, but it was a contest that didn’t see Werdum gain much offense. He couldn’t get Overeem down where he could have used his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and lost the unanimous decision ruling.
