  • Vs. Josh Barnett for Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix

  • UFC on Fox: vs. Frank Mir

In his debut fight in the UFC, Cormier took on another former UFC heavyweight champion in Mir. Again, this was a fight that most people thought Cormier could win, but most felt that the older and more experienced Mir would be able to end Cormier’s undefeated streak. For 15 minutes, Cormier dominated Mir and controlled the fight. He won his UFC debut via unanimous decision.

  • Vs. Antonio “Big Foot” Silva in Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Semifinals

This was a fight that was supposed to see Silva take on Alistair Overeem. Just 3:56 into the first round, Cormier got the knockout win against the much larger Silva to move onto the finals of the heavyweight grand prix.
